There's a ALTERNATIVE FUELS forum on this site. Try it.

With gasoline at $1.82 at WalMart, I've lost ANY incentive to run ethonal. It's not worth the effort, even though it WAS running $.50 cents lower than regular. I've no idea if the spread is the same today. May ADM have some severe heartburn over the low price of regular. They NEED to get over being a proteted species.

That said, the TURBOBRICK FORUM has a good write up on using ethonal. Better than this sites.

I ran a 2:1 mix of 93 octane and E85 (effective octane 97) last weekend at the track instead of spending $7.50 a gallon on 100 unleaded without adjusting my maps at all. The car ran perfect both days except for very hard starting and shitty idle even when warmed up. On the track anywhere over 1500RPM it was perfect though. My car isn't tuned to require the high octane, I just prefer it as a safety net in case it goes lean for some reason.

My setup is a stock turbo and intercooler, ported and worked motor, makes about 213 at the wheels on only 8 lbs of boost.

He was doing ok until he said that E85 has a higher energy density than gasoline, which is flat out wrong.

Be careful. You probably already know this (actually it sounds like you do from the next post down haha) but I just wanted to throw it out there for others. Despite the higher octane E85 has less energy than gasoline and requires more volume of fuel to be at the same AFR as gasoline. E85 is less likely to detonate but you could be running leaner than you want with that much E85 in the the fuel. I'd suggest not running that too often without adjustment.

I always thought E85 would be a nice mix for a rotary though, since it tends to burn a little cooler and is less likely to detonate when properly tuned. I have a few friends who ran/run it in their vehicles with no modifications to their fuel system. I know it's supposed to be corrosive but they haven't had a problem with it. One of them took a few o-ring seals out and stuck them in E85 for an extended time and nothing happened to them so he figured it was good to go. I don't know how well an older fuel line setup can handle it though, they may have upgraded materials these days.

It's like the TURBOBRICK forum says. You need approx 40% more fuel. Get a RTEK and just up the fuel. Runs like a champ.

I run/ran RTEK using half and half, regular and E85. Just jacked the fuel up approx 20% across the board. Not worth the trouble though. I have to drive fifteen miles one way to get ethanol. Gas is $1.78 at WalMart this morning.

Or install four of these on a stock turbo and just fill it up....http://www.racetronix.com/3145FM.html
