Can I reuse water seals?
Can I reuse water seals?
I have a question. I have a rebuilt motor that has been lubricated/turned over frequently. It has been sitting in a garage for about a year and i wanted to tear it apart.
(reason being is i think the irons are ported inward too much towards the o ring .. I may put up pics of the oil control rings observed from the intake runners just so i can get opinions from the almighty engine builders.)
Can I reuse the waterseals? The motor HAS NOT even been started and has just been sitting in a garage as an assembled short block.
(The water seals are brand new or at least i think they are brand new according to the person who rebuilt it)
Is there any way i can tell if the water seals are reusable by inspecting them?

true but they are new according to the previous owner. Is there any way i can inspect it? i probably will get new ones the Pineapple HD kit. Just curious as to what i should look for when determining what is and what is not reusable thanks once again guys. I appreciate it.

it should be fine then. if you are really worried about it, buy the pineapple racing pressure test tool. http://www.rebuildingrotaryengines.c...sure-test-tool
If the motor was put together with vasaline then, no. The seals will swell and won't fit right when you put them back in. If it was put together using hylomar then....maybe.
I wouldn't reuse them though.
