Can i remove secondary plates and keep cold start?

Can i remove secondary plates and keep cold start?

Well i want to get rid of the second set of lower throttle plates but i want to keep my cold start thermowax as i like for my car to idle when cold....89 TII can this be done??

If you want to keep the thermo wax then dont remove the plates, there is no improvement when removing these

if you have the throttle body off the car and you move the throttle all the way open are the secondary plates supposed to move slower then the others?

im not saying you cant keep the thermo and remove the plates , i just wouldnt do that myself

I did it that way. I have no evidence that pulling the extra plates made any difference, but it made it easier to port the TB. The thermowax cam engages with the primary throttle shaft. Leave the metal part in, but pull out the plastic vacuum valve and plug the hole with a NPT plug (not sure what size, 1/4"?)

ON a series four turboII, there is a cam and a DAMPER on the front side of the throttle body that slows down the opening of the secondarys.

Improves Driveablility on stock cars.
