Can I make an FC quick yet streetable??
Right now I have a BMW 330Ci that I think I'm going to get rid of to get another toy. The thing is whatever car I get has to be streetable and reliable. My price range is around $15K. I want to get another FD but if I do it will only stay stock for the money I want to spend. With that $15K I want to it to look badass and be at least in the high 11's. Am I looking at a realistic goal here or am I joking myself? I figure 4-5 on the looks, 2 on the wheels/tires, and 8-9 on car and engine. I much rather buy an FC for like $2K with a blown motor, do a large street port/polish, and a huge turbo with all the electronics it needs.

11's is not easy to do, and it basically requires a rebuild, port, full turbo, FMIC, and fuel system upgrading. At a little under $10k for the car and upgrades, that makes for a very tight budget.  $10k for just the mods (minus car) is easily doable.
$1k FMIC
$1k turbo
$1k turbo auxiliaries
$1k fuel system
$2k rebuild part (no labor)
$1k miscellaneous (clutch, oil lines, upgrade radiator, etc.)
That's $7k with no labor charges. If you're doing it yourself, it's doable with your budget.

RETed, I am going to do everything myslef except putting the engine back together. I'll be building my own turbo kit, FMIC, radiator.
poor college student, I don't want to get rid of my 330 to get a car that is barely faster and reliable
If I did I would get a honda civic. I want something in the low 12's to high 11's and spend under $15K. I think an FC is a great place to start.
I think it's going to be between an FC and a Prelude. The FC is going to be rare, corner better, looks better, and I can tell people I have 2 RX7's
The Prelude on the other hand is going to be cheaper to build, more reliable, better looking int, and more parts on the market to build.

i dont know..you talk so strong about how you want it to run quick track times..then when you are cornered about your choice of car..you back it up with how you like the fc for cornering and stuff...whats your ultimate goal? theres no cornering in track times... seems like you might be mixing interests here...?
huh?? It doesn't take a full on drag car to run 11's in the 1/4 right? So why can't you have a car that can handle nice and still be fast in a strait line? It's not like you have to have drag suspension to achieve a goal of high 11's. I can certainly name off more than enough cars that are fast in a strait line and in cornering

lol i beat my friends 2003 330ci and his sisters 330ci convert auto with upgrades in my na and poor college students car should be faster than mine....heavy cars badass nonetheless.
Oops, I totally forgot you need to control all of that "raw power". You can still get away with a fuel computer, but a stand-alone is best, IMO. Stand-alones are going to cost you another cool grand at least...

Maybe me saying I want a car to run 11's just made it seem like I wanted a drag car or something. OK how about this, I want a streetable, reliable, 400hp car.
well for reliability i suggest you go standalone to eliminate the stock ecu.. and i wouldnt call an rx7 reliable.. i know some would argue with me on that but still, i took maliculous care of my rx7 and it still took a crap on me for some unapparent reason (i just know its a burnt wire somewhere.. the trouble is finding that wire or whatever)

400 horse, should be doable in your budget, just get a different turbo, stand alone EMS, injectors, intercooler, exhaust, and possibly a radiator
