Can I get rid of the vacum lines and EGR valve?
Hello,
I've been rebuilding and engine for my 90 GTU for some time now and am at a point where I am installing the air intake.
The engine block was purchased separately from the car and I am not sure what year it's from. The car did come with everything else that bolts on to the block. The block came with an EGR valve but when I try to install the vacum lines and intake, the damn pieces don't fit together.
The EGR valve seems to be too big for the space left between the intake/vacum lines and the engine block. A friend who has owns RX's suggested I get rid of the EGR and put a plate over the hole. He also suggested I get rid of the vacum lines stating that there are only a few lines really need to make the engine run.
Is this true? Can I do this? I really want to get this engine finished.
Thanks,

Sweet!!!!
Thanks for the reply - I though I was going crazy. I must have gotten a series 4 intermediate housing. I'll buy the EGR block off kit from Atkins and install the vacum lines.
Thank you!
