Yea 2 ways.

1. stand alone ECu "You asked to avoid this"
2. a semi type of stand alone. Will cost you about 1000$ after tuning and you still do not have ignition controll. You can obtain it at cork sport. It is called a MAP ECU they run $650

Why would you want to get rid of the AFM? http://www.geocities.com/jeffguilfoil/afm.html

Build yourself a Megasquirt and you can save a bunch of money and learn a lot in the process. Others have done it and rave about the results. This is not my auction, but you can get most everything you need for under $200. Item #7990667629

Yes, but the inlet to the AFM is rectangular. You need to buy or make an adapter that has a round inlet and bolts onto the AFM. You can find them on Ebay for very little money.

IF you're gonna spend the money on a VPC or a similar product. you might as well just save your pennies and go stand alone.

Yes, simply leave it off and do not plug the harness plug up to anything. You've now eliminated the afm.

That's not very nice. You know people are going to try that if you say it and leave it at that .

I didnt see any criteria that had to be met, such as having the car still run afterwards...

Hmm. My next fc that is on its way from japan doesn't have an AFM (or airfilter for that matter..), anyone care to comment? I have no idea how it is setup, it has a blitz multi fuel computer system (controlling 2 extra injectors i think.) and possibly an aftermarket ecu.

It was built by prestage japan - www.prestage.rgr.jp

How do you know it was(or wasn't) recently rebuilt? (it was, around 8000kays ago.) Just because the engine bay isn't polished it means it is dirty? doesn't look too bad to me. Could it be because the engine bay is painted black?

"The owner was a moron." What makes you say that?

"You got into something you dont know anything about." Half the fun. I have been looking for a project.

Cheers, Bryan

(p.s. none of that is sarcasm, i really wanna hear your justification )

No the engin bay is like mad dirty! who cares about polishing. Any builder woulda cleaned the motor. The dirt grim just resembles neglect ang longtivity.

The pic of a clamped screan is just gehto cute and rediculus. I just hope the turbo is still good and the turbo.

The gauge cluster wires is simply the most unpro riging I have ever seen.

This is just what I think about the setupm is all. IMO it was done untastefully and ugly but that is one mans opinion and means nothing.

Yeah, i have been in contact with the previous owner and requested a bit more info, i think the screen clamped over the turbo is possibly because there is no room for an air filter due to the close space between the radiator hose and cooler piping (I have requested for prestage to put an air filter on before they ship it). The guy seemed to care more about how his car performed rather than ergonomics, so that is one possibility for the ghetto guages.

All in all nothing that can't be modified/fixed to my tastes.. who wants to buy something ready to go from the time you buy it anyway?

Thanks for your opinion, will keep it in mind.

I'm pretty sure that IC kit mounts the AFM in the return pipe where it runs over the top if the IC.

Since when does a dirty engine bay prove the motor hasn't been rebuilt? You can't even see the engine block, so your comment is just stupid.
