can I fill the trans from the shifter hole?

can I fill the trans from the shifter hole?

as the title says... can i fill it from the shifter hole or do I need to use the fill hole on the trans

i think you still have to fill it at the plug too, when i was filling the GXL's transmission it would only hold so much in the shifter (or maybe it just drains really slowly). btw, turbo transmissions i'm pretty sure have two fill plugs and two drain plugs.

you do need to fill the linkage through the shift hole. This chamber is separate from the gears. you will need to fill the trany thru the fill plug.

the linkage is full when the oil level is just above the square block that the shifter snaps into.

yes you have to full the trans from the fill plug on the side of the trans and shifter also needs fluid what kind i cant remember off hand but its in the haynes manual if you have one on hand...fill according to specs hope that helps any.goodluck

nope not yet!

so the specs say the trans takes 2L. does this mean 2l into the fill hole, and then more into the shifter linkage, or is it 2L in all

yeah we still havnt gotten a straight answer... if I undersatnd NZconvertible correctly hes saying you dont need to fill the linkage seperately, thus implying that they are interconnected, which means if you put oil into the shifter linkage hole, itll go into the trans!

If you pour oil into the shifter hole it'll spill all over the ground! You fill the gearbox as per the instructions in the FSM. NA and Turbo are different.

good jono they arent connected and put 2.5L in the box and fill the shifter half way up the ball. so buy 3L and you are good to go.
