Can I drop an 86NA engine/tranny in my 89TII frame

So I'm 85% sure that my engine is blown. (no power in boost and blue smoke in boost despite recent mods to fix these issues and 3 even peaks on compression)

So I'm getting a $700 junker in the meantime.

What I was thinking of doing was putting the 86NA(my old car.... runs like a beast) engine in the car while the 89TII is being rebuilt/modified. Is this possible? Shouldn't I be able to just hook everything up (turbo, electric, intake, etc) and be done with it? Or am I on crack?

You are on crack the amount of work this would take IMO is no ware near worth it. why not just drive your 86?

It is possible, but the NA block isn't the same as the TII block, so you would have to keep it an NA. Other issues include the different TII wiring harness, and you would need to swap out the NA AFM and ECU, and use the TII flywheel and clutch slave. It would work, but I don't think it's worth the trouble if you plan on switching back to the TII engine later.

Smarter ideas:
1) Just drive your NA.
2) If your NA doesn't work but the engine is good, then fix your NA or buy an 86-88 NA beater and put your good engine in that (can be done in one day).

That's the prob. The reason I have the NA engine sitting around is because the body is trashed.
