Question Can get this aws hose off without removing the uim?

Referring to the pic, is the red part a single hose, or is there anything in the middle?

I am lame. Should have searched a little bit more. https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/aws-hose-issue-639027/

I'm ripping that sucker off and capping the ends. If that doesn't fix my problem, I'm thinking my vdi actuator or valve may have a leak, may need a new gasket.

aws thing removed, makes absolutely no difference.

next step: replace all vacuum hoses.

That's because the BAC valve alone will pump enough air in to boost idle to ~3k on a cold start. Getting rid of the AWS just cleans things up a little.

Yes, I knew the BAC would still make it rev up but I was hoping my vac leak was either the AWS or one of the hoses connected to it. I removed the AWS and capped/plugged the intake and dynamic chamber nipples. I left the hoses going under the vdi manifold alone for now.

umm no. The BAC can't move that much air and the ecu doesn't run the BAC at 100% duty cycle after start.

Start the car with the shifter in gear and you won't get the aws.

that AWS hose (red one) can't be removed without taking off the UIM and MIM. That hose also provides air to the oil injectors and stuff. Just unplugging the AWS solenoid will do the same thing

Not if a hose has a leak. I don't care about the AWS. I'm trying to find and fix a vac leak.

oh. I was afraid of that. So I just made it worse. oh, well. I need to check the vdi valve anyway.

So I need to cap or plug the two ends (circled in green) of the metal pipe? But then how does the oil stuff get air? Can I not remove the hose to the intake?

Completely wrong. Have you removed an AWS valve before? Because I have, and my BAC was still enough to give the 3k cold start idle. It takes very little air to free-rev and engine up to 3k rpm.

not according to this pic. Of course, this doesn't show the metal part at all, so I don't know...

solareon was right and the fsm was wrong...or misleading anyway.

Where can I find all the big vacuum hoses (like those circled in red) and metal parts? Mazdatrix just has small generic hose.

I may block off the end of the metal part leading to the aws and leave the aws off, but I still need to replace the other large vac hoses.

I haven't found a source for that size hose. Maybe take a piece of it down to advance auto parts and see if they have something that size in like heater hose or whatever. I know that what I used for my BAC on my T2.
