can coolant buzzer NOISE be anything else.

87 TII

I have had problems with the coolant buzzer when nothing was wrong before. It turned out it was a bad sensor.

Today when I was driving to the dmv the buzzer went off for a second or so, then off. Got to the dmv, took care of what ever, then on the way back home the buzzer went crazy and stayed on the whole drive. I had my eye on the temp guage the whole time. Never went about 205 degrese F. Got home, let the car cool down, and checked the coolant level. It was a little low so I added some water to the top but the buzzing didn't go away.

My question: Does that annoying buzzer go off for any other reason, (like coolant leak, or bad water pump) or just for coolant level. I checked my oil and it was fine. Couldn't think of anyting else so I just decided to post.

Thanks for any help.
Tim

I trust you have got all the air out of the top tank of the radiator by bleeding it?

and yeah the only other thing it could be is the oil level.. but you said you checked that, unless the sensor is faulty... maybe...

I guess it must be the sensor. Yes, I did check the oil, and yes I did bleed all the air out of the radiator (via air bleeder screw). I guess I will change the sensor.

Can anyone else just verify for me that that is the only thing it could be. (the buzzer relating to the level sensor I mean).

Thanks
Tim

Ground the wire... if it goes away it was either the sensor or there are still bubbles in the system.

If it doesn't go away, its probably the oil level.
