can carb cleaner mess up apex seals?
My friend sparyed alot of carb cleaner all over the inside of my totel body, when the car was not running. He says this in no way can mess up my rotory motor. I have a 1986 rx7 sport 13b n/a. On the bottel of the carb cleaner it says only use on 4 cycl and 2 cycl motors, but this is not proof anuf for him. where can i get something that says in writeing that shows if you spay alot of carb cleaner in a tottel body it can mess up your seals in the car.
Ever since he did this my car has to power. even when i am flooring it the car crawls up to speed and will not go faster then 40mph with rpms maxed. just a few weeks befor I thook the car on the highway and got it up to 90mph easy.

most carb / intake cleaners have a warning that says do not use on rotary engines. >_<
also when you do use it, you're supposed to use it when the (piston) engine is running. the cleaner burns off as it enters the combustion chamber. and you only do it in burst of a few seconds, with someone revving the motor to keep it from dying.
i think you should take off your intake manifold and clean it out thoroughly.
my guess is there's alot of leftover residue in there, and its getting sucked into the engine in tiny portions making your car bog.

doing it with the engine off will flood the engine.
kick your friend in the ***** and now check the FAQ thread at the top of the forum for the unflooding procedure.
it will probably be a bitch to start as the cleaner will continuously be drawn into the engine under vacuum. my suggestion is to take the UIM off and dry it out and clean it the right way while it's off.

edit:
and i'll say it again
order the gaskets for the intake manifold
when they come in next week, take it ALL off and clean it out thoroughly.

I really dout the carb cleaner did anything to the engine, I have emptied about a can of carb cleaner into the rx-2 when I first got here since the carbs gets where all gunked up. Hell I even sparyed some into the engine via the spark plug holes to clean up the carbon build up in the engine.. After a few cranks witht he plugs out, put the plugs back in and fired right up.
Onlything I could think of it got onto some old vac lines and finished them off, leaving you with a vac leak.
