Please don't type in ALL CAPS. It is considered shouting.

Yes, you will loose bottom end and gain nothing up high. Best to keep the system operating as it was designed. VDI shifts the intake runner length depending on the RPM/load of the engine to try and maximize efficiency.

exactly as aaron cake said-youll gain nothing, and you will lose your low end. mazda designed the system like that for a reason. best to leave it running. if your looking to add more power, consider going with a full exhaust system such as racingbeat. their system is designed to work with the 6 port and vdi system and you will notice a power gain, as well as keeping a nice(not annoying)exhaust note.
cheers!

About 3 years ago I did a test using a MityVac in the cabin to open the VDI while driving.

I was crusing about 5K RPM in 2nd, & opened the VDI.
I had to lift the throttle to keep the burst of power from over-reving it.
It only works above 5K.
The low end grunt is noticably better with it closed.

I also tested the aux ports by manually opening & closing them above & below 3500.
Intake & port tuning is a pretty big deal.

When I pulled the air pump & ACV, I rigged an electric pump to work the aux ports & VDI.

Then I got seduced by a turbo - (another story)
