Can the 89+ MAf sensor be put in an 86

I was wondering if i could put an 89+ mass air flow meter in my 86 without modifiying it? anyone out there know? i want to get a better filter, and there are ton's more availible that fit the later model. thanks

just buy the adapter plate it's cheap. there is a guy on ebay that sells the adapter along with a high flow filter. i got mine for less than the cost of just the adapter plate alone

No, there is a guy on here, somewhere, that has an S5 MAF on his S4 ****..... i just damn cant remember what the hell he did and how it worked... i dunno, maybe run a search?

Why would you want to attempt a conversion on your AFM? For more accuracy?

here is another question to go with that, I am thinking about doing the throttle body mod to my 87 should i change the maf or just run the one i have now with the 89 TB unit and I am also haveing honed out as well.

That's so he doesn't have to spend the 20 bucks for an adapter..

Lambo,

Spend the 20 bucks on the adapter. You don't want to get mixed up with new harness, ECU, Oil metering pump, front cover, injectors, dual TPS (and throttle body). Trust me on that.

Crasher2,

Read above. And you don't want the 89 TB with the 86-88 ECU/Harness, no input for the 2nd TPS, and I can't see any flow benefits from the 89 TB.
