NICE!

Dude get the manifolds polished! It would be killer!

So what's going to happen to the vac lines?

The entire vaccum rack/harness is removed along with all of the hoses. All the emissions stuff is stripped off.

I think I'm going to paint the upper manifold with that aluminum engine spray, a la BlackPlague's idea. That should look good enough without costing a lot.

What brand engine paint are you going to use? What temps will the paint hold up to?

Nice. Can't wait to see the final results.

Im pretty sure that i'm not the only n/a owner out there who's eager to see how well this new kit does on your car. Good luck!!

How you gonna get around inspection since you're in CA?

Hey can you post pictures of the instructions? i know it sounds weird, but im really curious as to how they explain setting it up and what you need to tear out.

thx

I like the kit. It looks pretty sweet.

Hahaha, I took the box to my room and I decided I might as well just put it there for the pictures. It's not like it's dirt stuff...yet.

For inspection, I'm probably going to reverse this process (!!!) in two years (when my reg. is up), or I could be a bastard and buy a free pass...I'd rather not.

I dunno what kinda engine paint I'm gonna use, I know of the higher operating temperature of the rotary engine, and I do intend to use the highest temp. rated one I can.

I'll post pics of the instructions when I get home. They're a little vague but if you have some common sense and a shop manual it's all good.

man what a good investment because lets say you do blow something up yada yada you can always either rebuild or buy another rx7 n/a for cheap and put the charger on that since its all bolt on! I want one

You can do this with anything you bolt on to the car, so I don't see how it's specific to this product. It looks nice, but for it's pricetag, a whole lot more could've been done with a lot better result.

What I think would be cool is when (not if) when, your n/a motor blows... putting that kit on a TII motor. THAT would be interesting. Seeing as how you can turn the boost up ALOT more without worrying as much about it.

This is my plan btw

The problem with that is that you can't really crank the boost up that high. It's a roots-type supercharger, so anything beyond 8psi is going to be horrifically inefficient without some sort of intercooler.

WTF kind of stupid **** is that!? Don't put it on a tII block damnit. You can run just as much boost on a N/A as the TII block without worries if you have half a clue on how to tune it. I run 13psi on my 6-port with stock N/a timing, as do quite a few others. Keep it high compression damnit! And yeah, the camden set really needs an intercooler (water perhaps?)

How about fabricating the s/c to fit on the TII block while keeping the turbo too? S/C and turbo, get boost downlow and have more come in when the turbo spools

It'd be hard most likely, but that'd be cool. Only seen a few cars that were turbo'd and s/c, very interesting.

The reason you've seen it on so few cars is because the performance gains compared to having one or the other never outweigh the hassle and cost of making it work properly.

I hear air/air intercoolers don't really work with roots type compressors. One thing I'd like to see is a supercharger kit with a twin-screw compressor. That would be nice.

air/air is fine, just gotta keep the piping to a minimum.

Twin screw, kind of like what I'm doing? Whipple power!

In order to keep the piping to a minimum, the intercooler would have to pretty much sit in the stock TII intercooler area, which we all know is not the best place for a heat exchanger, and is also limited on space. Additionally, the larger the intercooler internal volume and piping, the larger the supercharger compression chamber, which makes the typically larger air/air intercooler less desirable than the typically smaller air/liquid intercooler.

Everything else being equal, physics dictates that a higer compression engine can not run as much boost as a lower compression engine if the detonation threashold is a limitation. This is not a debate, this is hard physics. I would suggest that your statement should have read "You can run more boost than you would think on a N/A if you have half a clue on how to tune it."

The problem is, the detonation threshold is relative to how it's tuned, you'll run into the same problems jacking the boost up on a lower compression motor, as you would a higher compression motor if it's improperly tuned (such as, too high of intake temps/fuel limitations/timing/etc), the only difference is, the area of leeway between getting away with it, and not, decreases rapidly. If all conditions are properly maintained, an n/a block should be just as capable as a tII block in terms of the ammount of boost it takes. If I'm wrong, feel free to correct, I don't take it as a bash or anything, always looking to learn, but that's as far as I can gather from my understanding, and what I experience when I kick the snot out of my car.
