Camber Idea ...was just thinking..

Now currently I wanted to address the neg. camber issue with my cars frount tires. (So naturely i came here .) So i did the grassroots rubber bushing mod...if it can be called a mod....and the results where (as i expected) minimal....
so i was thinking to my self.. the neg camber is set by the position of the strut right? So what if i put some spacers/washers in the two inside bolts(closest to the engine ) of the strut.. mybe 1/8 or moree, would that have any adverse effect on neg camber?? and would it be safe....
i mean i havent thought it out all that much (just finished the rubber strut adjustment thingy ) but It kinda made sense to me...
Any input is greatly accepted (even negitive )

Eibach makes special bolts which have a little cam in the center. The bolt replaces the upper of the two bolts which hold the strut bottom to the spindle. By turning the bolt, the cam moves the spindle in/out to give some camber adjustment. I'm not sure of Eibach's website, but I'd try eibach.com, or Google search them.

You can try Eibach's camber bolts for the upper of the two lower strut-to-spindles bolts.

I wouldn't be willing to try this myself, but I've heard of guys slotting their holes where the strut mounts, so they could slide the top of the strut in or out. But I have no idea how bad that is.

I use the ecentric bolts, but I got mine from Engal's , not Eibach. They work fine, some people claim that they can slip and cause mis-alignment, but I have never experianced this problem. Yes, slotting the upper strut mount holes works also, just be sure not to get carried away with it and tighten them more then stock torque. Between the ecentric bolts and rotating my upper strut mounts, I'm getting 1.6 dgrees of negative camber and it works great. I tend to be hard on my car in corners and was wearing the outside edges of my tires really quickly. Now with the added camber my tires wear more evenly and almost last a year now..LOL. For those who drive civilized in there cars, more negative camber is just going to wear the insides of your tires, so don't go overboard if you want your tires to last, or just drive like a mad man and wear out the outsides as fast as your insides do..hehehe.

Those "crash bolts" will slip under race conditions.
"Spirited street driving" will probably not make them move.
Hit enough pot holes on the street will cause them to slip also.
