Calling all noobs, calling all noobs - Car start issue after rebuild solved!

As some of who knows, I am a newbie to RX7's and all their splendor. Among these are being speedy, great handling, and the strangest of issues.

I recently rebuilt my engine, only to find after carefully setting the timing and making certain everything was perfect, that it refused to start. I spent 3 weeks going over every inch of the car, convinced it was an intake leak, I spent numerous hours ensuring all leaks were taken care of and that all seals were tight and perfect. Still no fire.

I asked 2 boards, this being one, and all the advice was great, but a little off. Everyone, including myself, kept pointing to something in the fuel. It was getting fuel, so I didn't think it could be related to fuel. Finally, I figured out that the spark advance and the, pardon my 'newbidity' but I do not know the name of the part, it appears to be an air mixture/boost adjustment control on the passenger side of the engine compartment bolted against the strut tower behind the air duct.

Apparently these two units work together in concert with one another and if one is off, then they are both off. I have my car running agiain, and on the street, idling around 800 RPM, though it is still a little hard to start. So I know that I do not have these things quite right as of yet, but they are close.

Perhaps one of the kind experts on this site can assist with the name of the part. My haynes manual stated nothing about this part working with the spark advance, and neither did the factory service manual. This is a lesson I shall definitely remember, and I thought this might be some knowledge of value for other newbies like me.

Again, for clarity, and for those who do not wish to wade through lengthy emails the answer is:

the spark advance and the _____ (air boost/mixture control screw, please assist with the proper name of the part.) part work in concert with each other to start, idle and run correctly.

Thanks.
