Calling all Carputer equipped RX7s
I've seen uRizen setup on another thread and got me wondering if there are any other people on the boards with one.
Please include specs (computer and software), pics of screen install, location, etc.
Also, can anyone tell me which program works with the odbI on our sevens.
Thanks.
Jahan

lol.
No... they make "laptop" PCs that fit into the stereo slot. Some have pop out LCD screens... they control everything from radio, DVD, mp3 through stereo, etc etc. Ive seen a video of a FD showing his off, looked pretty ******* nice, but Im not a fan of the extra weight and messing with a PC while driving.... can barely do it sitting down

Check out www.aaroncake.net
He has one. A home made one, not one that fits in the stereo slot.
Search in the 3rd gen section for car PC. Should find the vids there. Not a FC.. but you'll get the idea.

They make 12v power supplies for computers, but they run like $80-120 for them. Match that with the new VIA Epia series motherboard/cpu combos that are inexpensive and silent.....you got an on-board MP3 jukebox ready for anything.
I am thinking of renovating one of my storage bins into a clear plexi-top door and mounting one in there to use. War driving, MP3 server on-board into my system, etc. etc.
I can do it for less than $350 with a 160GB hard drive. If you equip it with a WiFi card and hook an access point inside on the network, you can access new MP3s on your in-house computers from the car in the driveway or the garage and copy them over. Ready for a road trip in like 2min tops
(If you haven't guessed yet, I am a Computer Information Systems major and 5 yr IT Manager now )

I'm not sure whether to be offended by your comments or not?
I meant because of the relatively pertinent post instead of simple one line flame......kinda like you did.....
Also because of my excitement involved with the post.....I think this is a neat thing to see in more and more cars.....they are very underutilized for what they can be used for....

Great, managed to make myself look like an *** again. Can I change my name?
So is there any way to utilize a carputer to keep track of engine vitals, as opposed to gauges??? As you can see imma a noob. Im trying. The reason I ask is because I have a decent laptop without a working lcd, I was thinking about the lilliput touch screen.

My carputer helps me keep track of my average gas mileage, oil changes, and the other maintenance, but I have to manually enter the information. It would be sweet to find a device that I could attach to an axle and have it at least automatically track mileage.
