Calipers & Suspension & Turbos

I have an 87 Turbo, with 4 lug wheels, that needs the rear calipers replaced. Does the fact that its a turbo mean that it is not the standard suspension? Can I install calipers for a standard suspension 87 RX7 or will the fittings or mounting be differant?

Yes, you can swap the spindles & brakes to 5-lug.
The tech section at www.rotaryresurrection.com has some good info.

The 8th digit of the VIN will tell if was origonally a turbo.
VIN Info (USA):
J = Japanese Manufacturer
M = Mazda
1 = Passenger Car
F = RX-7
C = 2nd Generation RX-7
3 = North American Export Version
3 = Coupe, 5 = Convertible
1 = NA, 2 = TurboII
? = Various Check Digit
H = Model Year 1987 (I = Not Used, J = 88, K = 89, L = 90, M = 91, N = 92)
0 = Hiroshima Factory Code
?????? = 6-Digit Serial Number

IF was an NA, don't tell your insurance agent it's now a turbo, or he will bump your rates.
