CA Smog Test Failed - Help
I have a 90 GXL N/A with an AT, and 106,000 miles. Car runs great, clean air filter, NGK Spark Plugs with about 7,000 miles on them and a universal O2 sensor with about 6,000 miles on it. But, she become a CA Gross Polluter with HC readings of 301 PPM (15mph) and 216PPM (25mph), the allowables are 118 and 93 PPM. The CO came in great at 0.17% for both 15 and 25 mph, with an allowable of .75 and .63%. The NO also came in good at 446 and 271 PPM with allowable of 799 and 738 PPM.
Any suggestions on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

IS your car warm up when you tested it? Maybe try reving the car or driving it hard a little bit before testing. And leave the car running when you are waiting, tHat might heat up the cat a little more. How old is your cat? Your Co looks great and your Nox is great too. You are just running rich, maybe you can run some fuel injection cleaner before goign for the smog again? Just wondering has any one try smoging with out the air filter? Just a thought............ ANy ways check your cat, and all the smog equipment. I hope this helps..
