Sud7 / Roy James: I routed the wiring harness the same way as stock, put the stock airbox on, jury-rigged the engine check light to come on (hehe... comes on when the low fuel light comes on now ), and then drove around all afternoon at like 1500-2200 rpm, making sure the AFR was set exactly at 14.7:1, no matter what you did with the gas . Then I put new plugs in, pretested it, then backed the base timing off 5 degrees, and it passed. As it turns out, I was only running ~5 degrees of split timing, so it should have been no problem at all if I had opened that up (completely forgot to check it).

Oh yeah... and I talked to the smog tech for about 1-2 hours about how interesting all this stuff was, and what happens if you do what with the mixture, etc etc, so we were 'buddies' by the time my car was on the dyno. I suppose being 17 also helps.

Ztcrspet to answer your question its simply get the Racing Beat complete system or Not a lot of people know about MIND TRAIN they're developed here in CA, they're good, but expensive. But the convertibles are a lot heavier than any 2nd gens(200lbs. heavier, but correct me if I'm wrong), it was meant for a Blvd car(luxury car). A K&N cone filter would be nice, check E-bay they'll have something or a HKS MegaFLow intake(they're good too). Up grade your ignition system too.... you'll feel a difference.

Hailer the only difference between a GSL-SE ACV and the 2nd gens is that it only has one Split air solenoid connector, 2nd gens have a 2nd one just left of the ACV and Air pump port. But everything else is I guess the same. Ooh yeah the GSL-SE intake only has 2 680cc fuel injectors and the 2nd gens 86/87 have 4 460cc reddish 195500-1350 fuel-injectors. I'm pretty sure the Split air hose is still in the same location.

Any information that makes sense is a good info.

thanks hailer
