The factory A/C refrigerant is (as all cars were pre-1994) R-12.

If you have a Sanden compressor...............go to their site and look it up. It is there. Been there, done that.

www.freeze12.com, then click a few links to reach:
http://64.227.160.178/miva/merchant...._Code=freeze12
That came from a quick google, I haven't actually tried buying anything from them.

I hear you can also get HC-12 from Canada. Can't be sold in the U.S., though.

If you convert to R-134a you need to change the A/C oil and a lot of the components.

i work at a shop & i am the a/c tech there. ill let u know everything tomarro when i go back to work. including the oil type & amount & the amount of refrigerant it needs. if you convert to r134a you'll have to change the compressor, drier, flush the entire system, r134a refrigerant oil & a r134a orfice tube (or r134a expansion valve, i dont know which one is on the 2 gens).

All you want for the freeze 12 and they ship out quickly. My A/C blows cold and no conversion. Like Mark said it rocks.
http://www.sherco-auto.com/fr4012.htm is another site

I'm not sure, but I think you need to vacuum the air out of the system even when adding R-12. Failure to do so would result in inferior cooling.

you can run R134a in our systems with the proper oil, so long as the integrity of the system is decent it works just fine just don't overcharge it by much.
