A/C part needed
According to my local mechanic, I need "the AC High Pressure Switch that goes in the cooler pipe". The cooler pipe part number is #FB0161464B. My local Mazda dealer says he can't get it. Does any one have a source for that? If not, can anyone suggest an alternative?

I know your car by reputation!
The part you need is actually a low pressure switch that installs on the high pressure line. It's function is to keep the compressor from running the refrigerant is low in the system. So if the pressure is below say 40psi on the high side prior to starting the a/c, the system is obviously low on refrigerant. The switch breaks the circuit to the compressor clutch. It protects a leaky system from creating a vacuum on the low side and sucking in bad stuff-air, moisture, small mammals etc.
You could buy a used part on the forum-however I do not know if the S4 and S5 switches are the same. My backup server is down due to home remodel, so I cannot look over the FSM to determine part interchange.
You could also CALL the guys at ACKITS.com. They can probably help.
Or, this might work: http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIVERSAL-A-C-SW-5203C-Switch-A-C-Low-Pressure-Cut-Off-LPCO-Switch-/121150447358?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AMazda%7CModel%3ARX-7&hash=item1c35211efe&vxp=mtr#vi-ilComp
If this is edited by MODS, search the bay for UNIVERSAL A/C SW 5203C Switch, A/C Low Pressure Cut-Off-LPCO Switch
LPCO Switch
Other platforms of the day used similar technology, so if a used switch cannot be found, the pipe could be customized with an available switch. I would stay with Mazda's from the same era. Avoid Toyota's in this case-many used a trinary switch that served several different functons.
BTW, you can bring that car by and I would be honored to fix up that a/c.
