I just bought a 1988 Turbo II and all the AC and heater components are missing. I am not familiar with air conditioning systems. What components do i need to look for in order to start looking for the parts? The picture of the engine clearly doesn't have the compressor attached. Aside from the compressor what all do i need? I bet its a bunch of stuff! I knew it did not have AC or power steering upon purchasing but I want to restore those functions if I can. I searched the forum but I could not find any related topics. Im new to the site as well so forgive me if I did not know where to properly look. Thanks for the help in advance.
You will need the compressor, the mounting bracket for the compressor, the bolts for the compressor to the bracket and the nuts and studs to secure the mount to the engine. You'll need the belt and tensioner, a condenser, both the high and low side lines, mount for the line on the firewall, and you will need and evaporator core. That's likely still there as it requires removing the dash in order to remove.

thank you for the info. I have screen shot it and now off to the hunt. I’m still debating on wether to add the ac or not. Does having the AC reduce HP or is that a personal choice the previous owner made? What’s the logic? Appreciate your time bud
Add a drier to list of parts above, but the stock parts are unlikely to fit given your front mount intercooler and larger turbo.
The intercooler piping is also routed where the power steering pump normally lives.
It can be done, but usually the front mount is built around the other systems.

damn, didn’t think of that. If I can’t then I can’t. I hear lots of people take the power steering off anyway. I don’t know the difference as is.
The only component in the way for the power steering is likely the oil cooler loop. The intercooler may be blocking it. The condenser sits at an angle much like the radiator so you have a chance of that working. As for the intercooler piping, as stated above, that may need to be altered to fit the power steering pump.
I honestly like the power steering in my 10th Anniversary RX-7. I had another 88 that had it but it wasn't operational and it just wasn't as nice to drive.

man I hope I can figure it all out. Don’t have a rotary shop near me so I have to man up and figure it all out by research. I’m picking the car up on Wednesday so I’ll have more info then. At least a better idea of what’s there and what’s not. Like you it would be nice to have the power steering.
