A/C common failure causes
I just started looking into the air-conditioning system on my '86 N/A. The compressor doesn't engage when the selector is set to a/c.
I suspected a low freon charge, however I jumpered the low pressure switch and it still didn't engage.
I applied + voltage to the compressor clutch and it works. So, I'm unsure if I should suspect the a/c relay or the ECU.
All other heater/damper motor functions work properly so, I'm inclined to not suspect the dash controls.
