Sounds like the motor is spinning but not spinning the fan. Mine was doing this after I took it out and cleaned the motor internally. It worked great for a few days then just started going click click click while it was one and not getting any air. Turns out the shaft that goes through the fan ( not round, it's round with two opposite sides flattened and goes through a hole of the same shape on the fan) side was eaten away by the shaft so it didn't have anything to hold onto anymore.

I just fixed this yesterday but drilling a hole in the shaft. Putting a nail through in and smashing the end to hold it in place then using a dremel to cut out a slice form the fan to hold it there. then put it back together and it's works great now. though the fan is about 3 mm askew it still works great.

EDIT: If you hold the bottom of the motor while it's turned on you should be able to tell if this is the case. You'll feel it spinning.
