First off, don't scrape wires against ground to check for power. Good way to blow fuses...

On my S4 schematic, the wires going to the blower motor are blue, yellow, red/yellow, blue/orange, blue/yellow, and green/red. And one black, which is the ground...

The wires that have juice on them are the blue and yellow. So maybe it was the blue that you got sparks ffrom?

Find the plug on the blower assembly, and if it has a blue wire coming out of it and staying with the harness, then we'll know that it wasn't the one you found power on
