Bypass Heater Hose

So I've got coolant leaking from (what it looks like) behind the firewall. I'm assuming that the heater hose that connects to the heater core is loose/damaged.

From what I've gathered in the Haynes manual, if I don't feel like getting to the heater core itself (removal of that involves going from the dash/console?) I could bypass it by connecting another heater hose, with a couple of male connectors, and the only thing I'd loose out on is no heat during winter right?

Thanks ahead of time for the response.

Bought my 87 turbo set up that way. The hoses are zip tied to the A/C lines. Works for now! Damn thats a lot of work to replace that heater core

Taking out the dash isn't hard at all, its worth it to have heat in the winter.

the only thing you'd lose is heat? even in Arizona it gets chilly...
