buzzing noise at idle

when ever i ride around at night with all my electronics on my dash makes a odd low buzzin noise at idle. it stod once the rpm's reach 1.3k, anyone have a clue what it is? it will stop if it shut the car off and restart it.

Anyone care to take a guess at what this might be?

Maybe a bad ground for the radio. Is it coming through the speakers? I would check the grounds for various things, engine, radio, ECU, etc.

Most likely you alternator is on its way out ...

or the cabling ... (battery to alt, grounds, blah blah) ...

Check the voltage !!! that will tell you immediately.

or it could be something stupid like a bad connection somewhere ... example: too many keys on keychain causes ignition switch contact problem (probably nothing to do with your problem but just an illustration)

if you replacement alt is from an S5 then you'll need to change the wireing harness

Hey Shawn.

Its definitifely your alternator not the CPU!!!
Had the same problem some month ago and the voltage regulator of my alt was bad. The CPU is just making the buzz because the voltage is to low. But it is not bad! Its the ALT!!!
