Buying New Engine That's Been Sitting...Any Concerns?

Hi,

I have an opportunity to buy a 1 year old 13B that is a Mazda factory rebuild for my 1990 RX-7. It is still in the factory crate and has been stored in his garage (Arizona). The owner has decided to perform a V-8 conversion. Having been in the crate for a year and since I still have another year before I would be installing it, will the engine still be ok in it's current state or must I perform some storage precautions?

TIA,

Nancy

are all the holes plugged? As long as it's clear of any dirt, water or debris then I would say it should be fine.

If the engine was stored properly and pickled (light oil on external steel parts, oil into each housing to prevent internal rust) then it should be fine.
