Buying a new brake setup for my turbo vert tomorrow .. questions on pads/rotors
FIRST OFF YES I RAN A SEARCH
I just had a few questions on what your preferences are. I've been looking around and noticed alot of you were running Hawk HPS as well as KVR pads.
I just wanted insite on what pads you would all suggest to me. I will be doing some auto cross and road racing (minimal road racing) and a majority of street driving.
I can't tell the difference between the Hawk HP and Hawk HPS Plus or the Hawk Black etc etc.
Also I will be replacing my rotors since they are shot. I think I will be going with Corksport stuff. I was looking and found these
KVR Cross-Drilled Rotors -Front ('86-'92 5 bolt)
Does anyone have experience with these rotors ? Or are there any other suggestions ? Also how do most of the aftermarket rotors compare sizewise to stock ... I'd like to get maybe a 1/2"-1" bigger.
Thanks a bunch guys

Rotor size will remain same as stock. Also do not get drilled rotors, go with a simple blank rotor- it will perform the same, but will last longer and be much cheaper to replace.
If you have 4 pot calipers that need rebuilding, go to autozone and get their loaded pair- they come cleaned and ready to bolt up, they even come with morse (decent street) ceramic pads and are about $85 with a core exchange. Along with some DOT approved stainless hoses from Mazdatrix $85, its a pretty decent upgrade/maintenance.

In truth, unless you're doing hard racing, cross drilled rotors are primarily bling.
Same for slotted rotors, bling.
If you get rotors both slotted and cross drilled, you now have bling bling.
That said, I got a set of cross drilled rotors about the same time I replaced my wheels with open design 17's. Yes, for the bling. Be sure and get the rotors that have been treated to avoid rusting, since it's a bling thing.
