buying first FC tomorrow
hey i'm getting an 89 gtu tomorrow, i already checked it out, the car looks good, and all but the engine has lost its compression, luckily its coming with the mazda rebuild kit, and 2 extra rotors. im getting this all delivered for 900$. i plan on rebuilding it myself monday, i have the haynes manual, my notebook, and plenty of online sources, not to mention a garage (my friends) to work on it until its up and running. im excited, hopefully it all goes well! im hoping to get it up and running, to a peak condition, and then begin modding it within the next 2 or 3 months, are gtus good for turbo? or will it take a lot of replacement parts? oh yeah, i know i could use the search tool (ive been using it all week), but when rebuilding the rotary, what do "you" use to clean off the the surfaces before reassembly? any tips would be nice btw thx.

have you ever rebuilt and engine before, alot of patience is what i can say form experience. Your better off looking for a t2, after the time your going to put in for rebuild and then turboin it.

hey Nephilim , no ive never built an engine, but that doesnt mean it will be an impossible task for me to do, i understand what you are saying about the t2 ( i think) are you recommending the t2 rotary and tranny? or just flat out stock t2 rx7? i donno the most exciting part about me getting this car, is that i will be able to get down and dirty with it, and take things apart, and start off with a rebuild... just getting in and driving takes away the fun (for me at least).maybe ill just order a t2 engine and tranny then, if that would be easier than modifying the n/a. we'll see, this first one will be more of a learning experience if all else fails. thanks for replying fellas!
