Buying FC, Is this strange?

I found a 89 FC n/a GXL, 118k on body, in my area, no rust, new street ported engine, guy wants 2500. Says he installed the engine but it has a vacum leak, and wont idle, which sounds ok. Says that the dealer said that when he blew the old motor it may have warped the intake manifold, and its leaking. Says it needs to be milled and it will be perfect car. Any validity in his statements? Sounded kinda shady, but the price isnt bad, and its really close to home. I was thinking of going to look at it and taking a can of carb cleaner to see if i can find the leak. Thoughts would be helpful, thanks. Rx~

Its possible (although I have never heard of a intake manifold warping on a rotary).

Warped LIM chance is maybe .01%
If carb spray doesn't indicate a leak, try pinching hoses at various places to run it down.
Don't forget a less then perfect firewall to bell housing ground will mess up the idle.
