buying a fc

I found a fc for 500$, it is na motor that is blown. The girl that is selling it said it was a apex seal. The body of the car is solid. I have a limited budget but pleny of time. Should I buy it and rebuild?? What are the best and cheapest rebuild kits on the market??

500$ is smack dead on a good grab with a blown engine UNLESS it is a rustbucket or accident victim. Hopefully it is in good body/interior shape. Add a 1500$ ish rebuilt or try your luck on a used pull. and vroom vroom. I have built up several RX7's for around a grand all starting with 500 and less shells. I even built up one 82GX for under a grand and sold it a year later for 2000$ and picked up my current 86 with a Mazda installed new engine for 2300$. I could flip this right now for 35-4500$ and start again but having a reliable happy RX is so sweet I cant part with the current one, but who knows? In the end I think I want a turbo mint so guess I better keep buildin and sellin til I get there.

I have never had so much fun drivin or workin on a car since 20 years ago when i built up 68/9 cougars and mustangs. It is a sick f**$in addiction tho, dam near everyday I am thinkin about pullin this cleanin that changin this buying that...least it keeps me off the booze hahaha.

Have fun and scoop that baby up!

Terry

Sounds like a good deal to me. With only 70k original miles is a steal.

Just advice, you have to pretty much crack open the engine, and find out what seals need to be replace, but it is always a good idea to replace every seal, but some people don't. I know I am going to on my rebuild. And you may have a bad rotor(s), e-shaft, housings. And those can cost more money. Just be prepared for a fun time. I can't wait on my junk to be rebuilt, so I can start driving again!

Good luck.
