Buying a 91 RX-7 and need help
Well ive typed a couple threads now and gotten alot of help so thanks to all who have responded, but i got one more question. I was woundering about the rest of the car besides the engine. Like how long the Tranie's uswilly last, the electrical, stuff like that. Also I was woundering if there is a diffrence in engine between the Turbo models and the NA ones, besides the obvious.
-Thanks agian for your help

The Engine in the Turbo Model has lower compression IE the "dished out" area in the rotor is a bit bigger. The flywheel is different from the NA and the starter as well. Internally, the turbos use 4 ports for intake instead of 6 on the N/A's. The upper and lower intakes are different as well.
Trannies last a long time, provided gear grinder garry didn't own the car. Look for really hard downshifting into second and first and grinding upshifting into fifth.
the 91's use an electric Oil Metering Pump and if it goes... look out, they can be pricey...
Look at the tail lights... they should have round circles in them... if not.. somebody's pulled a fast one and put 86-88 tail lights in the car.

NA tranny's do much better on synthetic gear oil.
A stiff clutch & big tires can be hard on them.
The shift lever bushings are normal wear parts.
Turbo trannys can handle about twice the torque, but they both can wear out syncros.
Also the turbo driveshaft, differential flange, & halfshafts are different.
