Hello Folks,
I am about to buy an 89-RX-7 turbo that has been sitting for about six months or so…. The seller is asking for about $1000, not bad.. Seller of the car is saying that one of the seals is broken and I won’t be able to drive it home….

I just wanted to know what the symptoms of a broken seal and does this car sound like a good deal? Please advise…


Just so you know, I did start the car and the boost gauge in the dash just went up a bit when I accelerated in a gear and also the engine was smooth after warming up…

that's a very good deal if it drives. many types of seals in there he could be talking about (water, oil, apex). but since it says broken i would imagine he is talking about an apex seal. symptoms would be low on power, low on boost, i've heard sometimes it can sound like bolts being shaken in a coffee can.
