Buying an 88 non-turbo
I took a look at the car, it's in good shape on the exterior. I got there early in the morning and had him start it up for me... It barked out a lot of smoke on startup. It wasnt white like a coolant leak, was just normal color. When I say a lot though, i mean a lot. Should I steer clear of this?

hasnt been sitting long, he got into a minor accident. the hood and front bumper were damaged, the bumper has since been removed so it made it easy to check for frame damage and other nasties. everything looks ok, except that I need a hood and bumper. :P He's asking $600.

not bad (600$), if you have the money to maintain it. Obviously you are going to run into problems with a 600$ car. I would advise you to not even drive it untill you get some checked out. (maybe get it V.I.'d)
