Buying an 87Base thats been sitting for two years, whats to be expected?

Hey guys

Im getting a GREAT condition 87Base (blue interior, most of the interior is there, nice window tint, been under a tarp since break down) that broke down in 2000 and the motor removed and never replaced. What all do you guys think is going to be bad from sitting? Im going to go through the car and preplace all the fluids, tranny, rear end ect. What do you guys think will be of the electronics in the car?

I have an 86Base now thats Fugly as all to come but is in good operating order so i want to swap what i have good on this car to the sitting 87Base, in case anyone is wondering.

Thanks guys.
Charles

The electronics should be straight, i dont know why they wouldnt, unless they were submerged in water. Change all fluids, and drain the gas tank, there is a bolt on the bottom, you might want to get it flushed also. Get under the car, and oil anything that looks rusted, oil the u joints. You shouldnt find anything bad on the car after 2 years, 15 yrs, thats another story

Nice response man. Thanks. I figured with just two years of sitting the electronics should be fine, but i think after sitting for a long time they begin to almost become rotten.

To tell you the truth, the car I bought hasnt been registered since 98 or something. Im left to assume it sat until I got it. Besides the motor (already out and ready to put new one in as we speak), there isnt a damn thing wrong with the car. Just change all fluids etc, maybe plug wires. Im assuming the plugs are gone if it doesnt have an engine.

Besure to replace all the rubber fuel lines, I would assume after being dry for years they are shot, or will be once you run gas back through them. I would also flush out the lines. and clean up the fuel pump and its filter.

I would alos remove all the grounds, sand them and the attachment point nice-n-shiney, and reattach. Then coat with a layer of dieelectric grease to prevent further corrosion.

mine died (back rotor spat a seal) in mar. 2000. I purchased in may. 2002, and after some atf, fired right up. Everything seems to be great (aside from motor). However, it threw a fan belt within about 10 minutes of running... not that you'll have that problem
