Buyin a car
Ok im a 16 year old who has $6000 NZ ($2,893.87 US) to spend approx. I want a car to use for drivin to skool work etc but also for doin club events at my local race track. i am fairly knowledgeable about normal cars but ive heard a few things about rotaries. ive heard a. theyre really unreliable and the moment u do nething to modify it it gets worse, and b. they use as much fuel as a 350 chev V8. r these true??? and also wat series i like the look of series 4's but im not sure id get insurance i was tinkin of mayb a series 1.

Ok, #1, THEY ARE NOT UNRELIABLE!!!!!
#2, Yes they get around 18-24 MPG, so what?
#3, the moment you modify them they become ALIVE.
If your worried about gas mileage then go get a Honda. By the looks of your typing it seems this would be fitting.
The only people that spread bad rumors about rotaries are people who dont know anything about them, have never ridden in one, or are just too ignorant see past the pistons.
I think it comes down to the fact that people are afraid of change. They are comfortable with familiarity. Which is why there are 5000 Hondas for every 1 RX7.

They are a fairly reliable car when completely stock. When you are looking for a car I make sure it is usually close to stock....I like to do MY upgrades and make sure they WORK. . Anyway, the gas milage doesn't hurt me and like bob said when they get modded the go ape **** crazy. A simple complete exaust gives you some nutso power and a bad *** tone along with plenty of good ole flames.

There is more than 5,000 hondas for every rx-7, more like 50,000. For that money the rx-7 is probably the absolute best car you could get for local track events. You could find a faster car for 3 grand, but at the track the excelent handling capabilities of the rx-7 plus its high redline and ability to maintain a constant high rpm will make it a great choice for the track. If you want to drag race, get something else. The reliability is all up to the owner. Even a show winning dog, will die in weeks, if not taken care of.

k so u have to look after ure car quite a bit also does ne1 have more mpg figures these are very helpful. also is it best to get NA and also should i get a 12A or 13B as a 13B will cost more so it will be harder to insure

I have a 88 vert. 20 mpg average. 140,000 miles (225,000km) and never a problem with reliablity. Broken down 0 times. My advice would be to buy a 83-85 with reasonable miles and that you are reasonably sure that it has been taken care of.
