Would it be better to buy an rx7 tII or an rx7 n/a and do a engine swap?

Buy the TII a lot less hassle and may even be cheaper in the long run.

Please choose a more descriptive title for your threads. "Question" isn't exactly helpful to those trying to figure out what is in the thread. I have edited for a better title.

Buy the TII, especially since they only sell for a few hundred dollars more than an NA and the insurance is the same. Not only does it have the turbocharged engine, but it also has an upgraded transmission, driveshaft, LSD, halfshafts, and some other items.

Uh huh... It might vary from company to company, but I know that with Progressive (I checked rates on line), it is most definately not the same.

State Farm, Progressive, and USAA have the same rates for NA and TII coupes. Only the convertibles and 3Gen RX-7's would have increased my rates with these companies over the last 16 years. Things may be different in other countries.

By a TII, you'll avoid alot of the hassles of a conversion.

conversions are a bitch....... trust me......... if you can afford a t2, get the t2..... if you can only afford a n/a, then buy the n/a and do a turbo swap later! thats what i had to do.

Reguardless, I checked again online (Progressive.com's instant quotes), and while the NA coupe was ~$185 a month, the Turbo was over $200 a month (using my birth date, maybe it changes for people over 21).

Even with bare-minimum liability insurance, there was still a diffence of $3 a month.

That's very possible. That's also why it is good to get quotes on your own, like you did. Everybody has a little different situation.

Everybody has different insurance needs, but most people would probably want to stick with bare-minimum liability insurance for these cars, and maybe towing insurance.
