87 gxl non turbo about 20 to 30 seconds after cold start car smokes like crazy until warmed up once warm no smoke at all, car passes smog test no problem high rpm no problem but cold it will fill my street with blue smoke please help

 

Original engine? how many miles? sounds like oil control rings

 

the engine has 200.000 kilometers on it or about 130.000 miles, are oil control rings very expensive to change!

 

it requires the engine to be removed and rebuilt

 

Are there any other things that should be checked first. by oil control rings. do you mean the side seals of the rotors?
the best way to fix a mystery is to start with the cheapest things first. there has got to be smaller things it might be before tearing down an engine!

 

mine did that and i ended up getting a mazda reman...
