Angry Burning Me Alive!!

Alright, I drive a 1987 GXL. It runs great, has like 164k miles on it. But that is not my problem. The a/c stopped working last summer, and i am just to lazy to get it fixed, but the thing is, while sitting in traffic on a hot day, it feels like heat is just hitting me in my face, and my legs just pour sweat. It feels like my car is running the fan... and putting hot air on me, even with the dial all the way towards cold. It still gives me hot air, I didnt mind so much in the winter... but now that it is summer... i drive for 10 mins, i have wet spots all over my chest and legs and my hair gel comes out i sweat so damn much. It's killing me, could someone please tell me how i could stop this? or where i could get my A/C fixed and recarged really cheap? The car also runs at 75% on my temp guage in the summer... and ONLY in the summer... i have no clue what this car is doing... I am going crazy, i cought myself today riding with my head out the window and my leg on the seat trying to get air to my legs. I hate looking stupid ridin down the road :P i look like a rapper drivin down the road...
if someone could just please help if ya can...
thanks
(AND I have searched through the forum for this same problem, and have found nothing... people have their various heat problems, but i have yet to see one like mine.)

Maybe it's stuck on running the heater even though the switch is on cold. The logicon system was a neat idea but sometimes a mechanical system is better... less things to go wrong.

fix your a/c!

Well, if it were me I would flush the radiator and try to get the car to run cooler, mine runs a 1/4 or less of the way up the gauge in the summer. Maybe if you get it to tun cooler it won't be as hot. Also I believe that you can go to autozone or somplace like that and buy a recharging kit for your A/C.

convert the sytem to R134a and get cool AC!!Its cheaper than getting your system recharged with R12--about $30 a can, and you need about 3!

Sounds like a bad logicon or air temp motor to me, if the heat doesn't change when you move the slider up and down on the climate control.

did my 7 with a 134a conversion kit under $30.00 in penna. with 3 cans, also wondering if you could put a shutoff valve on the water in hose to your heater core ,did that to a couple old hot rods i had , don't really know if that affects a rotary system or not ?? would save the price of replaceing the heater controls or at least till you could find a control replacement for a decent low price ????
