burn out

got a 87 N/A with 2.5 exhaust. one precat let and a high flow exhaust.

i have two questions.

1) am i capable of doing a decent burnout ? if so how do i go about doing so?

2) if i go into turns and wanna chirp the tires doing a little drifting i guess, how much can my 7 handle before axles and such will snap. what do i have to worry about?

thanks on any input

1) I don't know are you, the car is, are you?
2) go to driving school (not drivers ed) go to an auto-x solo-2 or something similar, and take the course. don't do that **** on the street.

3) Use the search button all been covered before.

I read in your other thread you have an auto, simple to do burnouts... Hold the brake down, press the gas, ur good to go. At least thats how my friend did it in his auto mustang. Why exactly are you so interested in doing burnouts in an auto anyways?

These weren't smart *** comments they were points of advice. things that should be takend into concideration.
If you don't like the advice given I must forewarn you that this is a public board. and there is ALOT OF knowlege here.
I don't mean to be smug or anything like that but here is reality;
only people asking "how to do burnouts" are kids who think it's "cool" and thus is a fase that will someday pass. the rediculous thing is that every week there are quesitons like this and when someone answers honestly they make the comment like you made above. which gives off the I just want an answer not smart *** comments. makes me think that well since you apparently are smart enough to use the post button and respond to my suggestions as being a smart *** you must be smart enough to answer your own questions.
As for search I found litterally 100's of threads in the archives on both of those questions you posed so apparently you didn't look so hard.

I am not looking to be a dink or a smart *** or whatever you prefer to call it just putting things into reality.

Burnouts really don't do much but put on a show and wear out tires and pavement.

as for handling capabilities of our cars... they are ture sports cars that are easily adapted to race cars.

and fooling arround on the street such as "drifting" as you put it is dangerous and stupid people die because of things like that.

Oh and have a nice day...

hold slight pressure on the brake.. punch the gas petal.... feather gas and brake to do a burnout. of course it will do them.. it stresses ur drivetrain a bit.. but it should be fine. Jeff is right, dont do **** in public that will get your *** killed .. Find an empty parking lot and start out doing donuts.. you will learn how to drift them wider and wider.. however.. watch for **** to happen like cops, etc.

yes i did ask about the drifting but only cause i have been in Mr2 that handle well too. we both went into a ramp to enter another high way and this dude just got on the gas and handled the curve like it wasnt ****. keeped hearing his tires chirp. im to affraid to try that in my 7 even though i have read our cars handle well. i just dont want to break any axles or end up screwing things up.
about the drifting though there are times late at night when the weatheri s cool and there are no cars around and i need to turn i like to start turning and punch it a bit, its kind nice to feel the back come around to the side, ones that happens i get of the gas though.

you say donuts in the parking lot huh? did not know our cars were capable of doing that. though for sure it was to much stress on our stock susp and tranny and axles.

i do consider my self smart yes and thanks for the comment above, thats why i come on here first and post so i can get input from other so i dont go out doing dum stuff first. i like to learn from others. but hey man no hard feelings you did speak your mind and it is a free country.

i do assume though that you have had your 7 for a while if not several so you have already enjoyed the capabilities of it some of us including me have just gotten one and want to see what it can do. i no way would i go out and try and drift when other vehicles are out or endager other.

and you too have a nice day and remeber, no hard feelings.

I'm sure holding the brake down to pre-load the torque converter isn't that great on the tranny, and I don't think the FC autos are that strong in the first place.
The other thing to consider is something called public display of speed. Thats what happens if a cop happens to witness you doing a power slide or burnout. I almost got one a few weeks ago because my tires were totally bald. You can also get a ticket for excessive acceration.
