Cool, I've been called a newbie again, makes me feel younger, anyway. I know what you're talking about with the money, I've been there, and I know most new rex owners are barely out of their teens, so they don't exactly have money flowing out of their ***...I've learned in life the old saying "if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right", so I always do the best job I can with the materials/ finances at hand, and if I think it could be done better, I'll do it again. My car is my daily driver, so I spare no expense when she needs something, that way I don't have to worry about whatever component/system I'm working on for quite a while. No need to flame, we all have our own way of doing things, don't we?

BTW: I've owned rx-7's since '89, a beautiful charcoal gray first gen that met an untimely death in a couple of trees, and my current second gen purchased in '99...If you still want to consider me a newbie just because I haven't been a forum member as long as you, so be it...

Sadly I think you're a bit too old to understand what I was saying. In my suggestion of being a 'newbie', I wasn't implying to 2nd gens, rather to the 2nd gen owners. As in, if you've been around the forum long enough to get a grasp of all the owners here, you'd understand they're cheap and don't do a whole lot. In no way was it intended or even possibly designed to be a flame. I was simply explaining why we do these things in a joking manner. No harm intended!

Nah, the legend I've learned is, "if yer gonna do it yourself cheaply and sloppily, don't b;tch about poor performance or failure", it's okay to do something hacked, or experimentally, or cheaply, or stupidly, when one calibrates their expectations. That is the "worth" of the doing.
