Bucking, Idle, and warmish start problems
Alright, I searched and came close, but no cigar. Funny how that happens to me alot. I have an '88 N/A GXL with a cat back, cone filter, and Pinapple Racing 6-PI inserts. I just recently got finished putting the inserts in, and buttoning the car up. It runs just about the same, except there are some new issues that I have never had before. Naturally, after putting the inserts in, I wanted to see if I could notice a power difference, so after she was all warmed up and idling okay, I decided to do some red-line runs. I immediately noticed that it bucks now after 6k rpm, all the way to 7k. It has a hard time making it's way to the red line now. Not acceptable. Next problem: I was driving it today and even after it warmed up to 1/4 on the temp gauge, it would idle at around 1000 to 1150rpm. And now my final problem: after it warms up, if I shut it off, let it sit for around 12 minutes, come back and start it while it's still a bit warm, it will start okay, but it won't have any throttle response for around 15 to 20 seconds and it will hover around 1200 to 1700rpms for that amount of time. What I mean by this is I can't just start driving, it doesn't do anything even if I floor it. So, I think these problems are obviously caused by two different issues, possibly the thermowax, and a bad ground I need to hunt down . I just want to know if anybody else can help me with this or if anybody has had similar problems, and if the found a fix. (It didn't do any of this before I did the PR 6 port sleeve mod.) Any help is appreciated! Sorry for a long description.
