Bucking above 3000 Rpm

Hi, I just put a E332 computer in my 87' Gxl. I'am going boost very soon and thought that I could start with putting some of the electronics, computer, pressure sensor, and air flowmeter from a 87' T2 car. My car ran fine before I installed the parts now it starts bucking after 3000 RPM. It will pass 3000 but only ever so slighty feathering the throttle will it rev more. And that is in gear only, if you rev it in neutral its fine. Thanx.

If you are running the NA engine and injectors with the TURBO ecu/afm/map, that is your problem. The TURBO ecu is set up for 550cc injectors, the NA has 460cc injectors, thus it will not deliver enough fuel in any situation with load because the injectors only deliver 83% of the fuel the computer "thinks" it is delivering. That equates to really lean.

Hope this helps,
Vince

Question

Alright that clears up alot. I also have the injectors so I might put the turbo injectors in or just put my old stuff back in till I boost it. What do you think would be better? One more question I will be making my 6 port motor turbo. I already have this
  • E332 ECU
  • Turbo Pressure Sensor
  • Turbo AFM
  • UIM
  • LIM
  • TMIC (stock)
  • BOV
  • S4 Turbo Exuast Manifold
  • S4 Turbo
  • Turbo Injectors
  • Flange for downpipe
  • Thorttle Body w/cone
  • Both fuel rails
I know I'am missing the throttle cable. I got the manifolds with no sensors execpt the TPS. What other things am I missing so I can do the swap correctly. I what to keep the A/C and Power Steering because it will be a daily driver. Thanx for the help!

If it will be a while, before switching everything, go back to stock. Otherwise you are wasting your time by removing the parts you will remove later to install the turbo manifolds. I would reccomend sending the injectors to witchhunter.com to have them professionally cleaned and the o-rings/pintle cap/inline filter replaced. It only runs $15 per injector and they send you a flow sheet of the before and after.

As far as the little stuff goes: I have a TII parts car if you are looking for anything, for instance the throttle cable, small brackets, sensors, etc. Also, you may want to consider using the "KNOCK BOX", I have one but haven't located the knock sensor on the engine yet.

PM me if you need anything.

I don't know if there is a hole that can be tapped for it on the NA block, but you may want to check on that. The knock sensor/box does provide a very small amount of protection, but it may be unesscessary.

Also, you should be able to maintain the PS/AC with the stock turbo/manifold/TMIC setup as it doesn't seem to be any farther over than the NA manifolds as far as I can see.

Good luck!

Another thing, make sure your O2 sensor is working properly. My plug for mine came loose and was doing exactly what yours is. Check it out.

I do have the Knock control box and also don't have the sensor that goes on the motor. Do you know where the knock control box goes? I checked the o2 and its plugged up but don't think it would make a difference. Also could you tell me what sensors I need to get it running? There all missing. Thanx
