my brothers 88 gxl is having some flooding problems. i gave him my 88TII fuel pump right, so he installed it in his car which is an automatic by the way. he flooded out right away! so he took it back out and put his back in but know he says it backfires like a bitch and still has problems starting all though he says he can get it started now by pulling egi fuse.

my ? is should he install a fuel cut switch, will that fix his problem at least temporary. he thinks his motor is dead. i dont think it is though. he says the car runs fine, its just starting it thats the bitch!!

If he is bone stock, he will not need a TII fuel pump. Install a fuel cut switch, and that should temporarily help his flooding problem.

How long has it been backfiring? A day, a week....

When was his last tune up?

 

he just did a tune up and its been backfiring ever since he put his pump back in. id say a few days. he said it back fires when the engine is turning
