Broken front strut?

So I picked up some play in my driver's wheel area. It feels like a bad wheel bearing until you take the wheel itself off. When rocking the brake disc like you would to check bearings, it becomes super obvious that it isn't the bearing but the strut that is flexing. I've had my Koni yellows on for about a season of auto-x now so they've taken a beating, but I've never heard of a failure like this. The piston and the bore just mis-align slightly when you press in and it causes the hub to flex inward a 1/32" or so. I can't pull it outward with enough force to produce a similar reaction in the other direction. Again, it feels like a bad wheel bearing.

Car seems to handle fine, and there is no sign of leakage on the strut. Is this somewhat normal? And if not, is there any way to fix it that doesn't involve replacement? I tried snugging everything down, especially the top nut, but nothing really helped. Thoughts?
