could a broken egr valve cause low compression? cause i am working on an 88 that a bought with a blown motor and i saw thea the egr valve was broken and it looks like someone tried to epoxy it back then it was just zipited so could that have caused a loss of compression or am i probally looking at a blown motor?

As long as its covering the hole, then its not the problem. s5 engines dont even have EGR valves.
