broken clutch or more?

okay i have a turbo II

any ways, i was driving and my clutch pedal got stuck to the floor and a chafing noise came from the front of the tranny, then it wouldn't even go into gear...

i checked the the clutch master cylinder and the slave along with the lines, they look good. but the car won't go into gear

so do u think i broke the pressure plate or could it be something else?

Check fluid level. You can try to bleed the system, but chances are you'll need new parts, or you can rebuild the master cyl/slave cyl.

I'm with Turbo, it sounds like the cylinders, no the clutch or clutch parts.

my friends 87 base did something similar, it wouldn't go into gear at all unless we turn off the engine put it in gear then restart it. Well his car finally stopped doing that but he still gets some crazy noises like squeaks with the clutch pedal down and chafing as you mentioned, but worse the car clunks and the clutch only engages on like the first 2" from the floor. I think it is because of misalignment between the engine and transmission or something with the pilot bearing. Maybe the clutch release bearing (throwout bearing) is jammed up on the input shaft of the flywheel?!?!?? just some ideas.

^ tell your friend to flush out his clutch fluid and bleed the system throughly, then adjust the clutch rod as per the FSM. his master may be going out but adjusting the rod may give him a little extra time before it finally does let go.

In your original post, you stated that master, slave and lines look ok. @ months ago, I had the exact same problem. Assuming you are correct about the state of the hydraulic system, I would start by checking the inspection areas of the tranny. Look up from underneath car and look at flywheel. Is the flywheel and clutch still intact? Most likely it will be. If everything looks ok from under there, get ready to drop your tranny. The culprit in my case was the small pivot bolt on the back of the inside of the bell housing. This is the pivot point for the fork which moves your throwout bearing. Mine had snapped off, leaving me with no control of the fork and therefore the pressure plate. It's not too big a problem if your used to doing rx7 trannies. Good Luck
