where to find housing

my thermostat housing has cracked I guess due to age. I would like to replace it with a metal one. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

you will need to use an S4 water pump housing or it won't fit, with an S4 housing you need an S4 front cover. do a search and you will come up with more info. it's not as simple as it appears.

i assume you are talking about the plastic S5 t-stat housings that always tend to break that is.

try a wrecking yard, you could likely find a whole setup: water pump housing, filler neck and front cover assembly. i think you can get away with a S5 front cover but im pretty sure you need to modify the water pump housing to clear it.

Mazdatrix sells the whole thing, and pieces of it.

i just checked there as well, i only saw the whole assembly for some crazy price of $350 or summit... best bet is a wrecking yard if you got the time, or you can go to the dealer for the filler but as i said you will need a s4 water pump housing as well. you could probably find them on the for sale section here as well.
